DHAKA: The government has deployed Border Guard Bangladesh personnel in Dhaka, Chattogram, Bogura, and Rajshahi amid deadly violence over the quota reform movement.
Shariful Islam, the spokesperson for the BGB, confirmed the deployment on Tuesday afternoon but did not disclose the number of platoons sent to these districts.
The anti-quota movement, ongoing for the past two weeks, has escalated into violence. Students and job-seekers have been blocking roads since Tuesday afternoon.
Clashes were reported between the protesters and police and Chhatra League activists in Dhaka, Rangpur, Chattogram, Rajshahi, and other areas.
Police said three people were killed in Chattogram and one each in Dhaka and Rangpur.
