The government today appointed Mahbub Morshed as the new Managing Director and Chief Editor of the state-run national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha on a 2-year contract. Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard this afternoon. It said other conditions of this appointment will be fixed on the basis of the contract. “The notification will come into immediate effect,” the notification read.

DHAKA: The government on Saturday appointed Mahbub Morshed as the new Managing Director and Chief Editor of the state-run national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) on a two-year contract.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard.

It said other conditions of this appointment will be fixed based on the contract.

“The notification will come into immediate effect,” the notification read, reports BSS.

The contractual appointments of Abul Kalam Azad, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), has been canceled.

Besides, Jatiya Grantha Kendro director Minar Monsur and first secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in India’s Kolkata Ranjan Sen, have also been scrapped.

The contractual appointments of Bangla Academy Director General Professor Dr Md Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari and Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky have been scrapped, reports UNB.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Saturday in this regard.

The order will be effective soon in public interest, read notification.

Earlier, the interim government gave contractual appointments to five secretaries in ministries and the President’s Office.
